Competition Guidlines

 Little Miss  Dress Guidelines


Interview (one on one interviews, 4 judges, 3 minutes with each judge) - Worth up to 35 Points
  • A sun dress with appropriate length is required
  • A dressy, clean sandal, or dress shoe should be worn.  No flip flops.
  • Nothing strapless but halter style is acceptable
  • Hair should look polished
  • Nails can be painted but done tastefully 
  • No makeup except for a clear lip gloss​
  • Jewelry should be minimal

Casual Wear (Speech Topic- What I want to be when I grow up, 30 seconds) - Worth up to 35 Points
  • The same outfit and shoe can be worn as in interview
  • The interview dress guidelines for attire apply here 
  • Hair should look polished  
  • Hair jewelry is acceptable, headbands, bows, etc.
  • Other jewelry should be minimal
  • Makeup will be acceptable for the stage but very minimal and optional.
  • Blush, mascara, and a lip gloss are OK, but nothing over the top. No eye shadow or eyeliner.  We want this to enhance the contestant, not be a distraction.
  • No hair or body glitter

Formal Dress (One pop question) - Worth up to 35 Points
  • This should be a dressy dress, similar to a flower girl dress, or a very nice holiday dress
  • Tea length or full length is acceptable, no cupcake dresses
  • Coordinate a nice dress shoe
  • Hair jewelry is acceptable, headband, bow, etc.
  • Other jewelry should be minimal
  • No hair or body glitter

Junior Miss Dress Guidelines

Interview (One on one interviews with 4 judges,
4 minutes with each judge) - Worth up to 35 Points
  • A nice sundress that is age appropriate is required
  • Dresses should not be too short or too tight
  • Age appropriate makeup is acceptable 
  • Hair should look polished
  • Proper undergarments must be worn 
  • Age appropriate heel 
  • Earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets are acceptable, but do not overdo it.  
  • No hair jewelry
  • Nails can be painted, but done tastefully

Casual Wear (Speech topic- How I am making a difference in my community, 45 seconds)- Worth up to 35 Points
  • The same outfit worn in interview can be worn for this category
  • The interview dress guidelines for attire apply here 
  • Age appropriate makeup is acceptable 
  • Age appropriate heel
  • No hair jewelry
  • Earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets are acceptable, but do not overdo it.  
  • Proper undergarments must be worn 
  • Hair should look polished 
  • No body or hair glitter

Formal Dress (Two pop questions)- Worth up to 35 Points
  • A full length dress is required, no high/low hemlines
  • The dress should be age appropriate 
  • Keep your shoe tasteful
  • Proper undergarments must be worn 
  • No hair jewelry
  • Earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets are acceptable, but do not overdo it. ​
  • No hair or body glitter

Worth up to 35 Points
  • Professional, modern interview attire required, suit, dress, or professional jumpsuit
  • Proper undergarments should be worn.  Panty hose are optional
  • Hair should look polished
  • No hair jewelry
  • Necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings are acceptable
  • Makeup should enhance your beauty
  • Nails should be done tastefully

Casual Wear (Speech topic- Platform, 60 seconds)- Worth up to 35 Points
  • The same outfit worn in interview can be worn for this category

  • Proper undergarments should be worn 
  • Hair should look polished.
  • No hair jewelry
  • Necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings are acceptable
  • Stage makeup recommended
  • No hair or body glitter

Formal Dress (Two pop questions)- Worth up to 35 Points
  • A full length evening gown is required
  • Two pieces are okay but must be tasteful
  • Slits must not go higher than 3 inches above the knee
  • Nothing too low cut in the front
  • Shoes should coordinate with the dress, keep the style and heel tasteful
  • Proper undergarments must be worn
  • Earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets are acceptable
  • No hair or body glitter

Rules and Eligibility

· Contestant must be a United States citizen
· Contestants must be a resident of Lake County, Illinois
· Contestants must be female
· Contestants must meet the age requirements
· Contestant must never have been a Lake County Illinois State queen in the age division they are competing in
· Contestant must be a reigning Lake County town queen 
· Contestants must compete in all categories of the pageant
· Contestants must agree to have their photo used in newspaper and other publications approved by the LCIS board
· Constants must never have been convicted of a minor or felony offense

· As a contestant, you must be enrolled in school or have a high school diploma or have completed the G.E.D. program.  If you are 18 years or older, you must be enrolled in High School or college or completed college or a trade school program.  You must have good standing grades or have finished school in good standings.  No  exceptions.  If the LCIS board feels you do not meet those requirements, a reference letter may be requested from a teacher, guidance counselor, or a school official.
· Contestants may not have been married or have had a marriage annulled.
· It is expected that every contestant and their family and friends will show good sportsmanship before, during, and after the pageant.  
· Contestants must never have been pregnant or have had a child
· Contestants must bring in a minimum of $50 in advertisements for the program book 
· Crowned Lake County Illinois State Queen winners most not compete in any other pageant or pageant like competition during the reign 
· Crowned LCIS queens may not marry during her reign
· Crowned LCIS queens may not become pregnant during their reign.
· Crowned LCIS queens must agree to behave like a queen on   facebook, Instagram, etc.  Anything the board disapproves of, must be removed immediately without question.
· Crowned LCIS queens many not partake in alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or smoking of any kind during their reign.  Those of age will refrain from drinking alcohol while wearing their Miss Lake County Illinois State sash and crown.  They also may not drink at pageant functions.
· Crowned LCIS queens must refer all appearance requests to the LCIS board of directors
· Crowned LCIS queens must agree to represent Lake County at various functions unless academics make it impossible or the board approves your absents.
· Miss Lake County Illinois State is required to complete a minimum of one event supporting her platform or charity she chooses.  The LCIS board will assist them in planning. 
· Crowned LCIS queens may not wear jeans unless specified by the LCIS board.  Attire must always be appropriate for the event.

Age Requirements for the 2020 LCIS Pageant

Little Miss, 6-9 years old.  Contestant must be in this age range the day of their town pageant

Junior Miss,10-15 years old.  Contestant must be in this age range the day of their town pageant


Miss,16-21 years old.  Contestant must be in this age range the day of their town pageant
